OCR: BBlobal Neburg Australian deserts used to be wet! When the ancient supercontinent of Gondwanaland broke up, Australia split from Antarctica and drifted northwards. Until a few million years ago, Australia was warm and wet, and scientists think that it has only been dry and arid for the past one million years. Although this is a relatively short time in geological terms, it has been long enough for animals and plants to adapt to their new climate. CLICK TO ENLARGE PHOTOGRAPH
